While Granite and Marble are both natural stones, Quartz are manufactured.

How do I know if I should seal my countertops?
Since both Granite and Marble are natural stone, they are porous so they must be sealed in order to keep their nice finish. Quartz on the other hand is a man made stone and is nonporous so it does not require any sort of sealant.

How often should I get my countertops resealed?
When Alix Home Solutions installs your countertops, we seal them for you. After installation it is strongly recommended that you seal your natural stone countertops annually in order to keep them from discoloring.

How long should I expect my granite countertops to last?
Granite is a natural stone that has been created over thousands of years. With normal use and no overly excessive force you can expect your granite countertops to last you a life time.

Can I use a knife directly on my Granite countertops?
When it comes to using a knife on granite, you can do so if you please as it will not damage the countertop, however the granite will make your knives dull so it is still recommended that you use a cutting board. Since granite is a very hard stone that is rated between a 6 and an 8 on the hardness scale depending on the type, it is much stronger than the metal used in your knives.

How long would it take to install my countertops?
The time that it takes to install stone countertops varies depending on the size of the of the space. On average it could take from 2-4 hours to complete the job.

How should I clean my natural stone countertops?
The best way to clean your natural stone countertops is to use warm soapy water. You can also choose to purchase a product that is specifically designed to clean natural stone.

How do I go about picking out my countertops?
At Alix Home Solutions we have our own custom granite shop where we have several slabs of granite on site. We also have many samples in office that can be brought in from one of our many distributors. Also, if you would like, we can send you to one of the multiple distributors in the area to look at their inventory. Once you pick a slab it will be brought to our on-site shop to be fabricated and then installed.
